Aaron Stinnie is the calming presence the Buccaneers need at the guard position

Publish date: 2024-06-20

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers rolled the dice on Aaron Stinnie back in 2019. They didn’t really know what they’ll get from the 28-year-old guard but took the gamble anyway. It’s safe to say they made the right choice and reaped the benefits of that decision.

Aaron Stinnie started his NFL career in 2018, signing with the Tennessee Titans after going undrafted. He lasted just a season and a half with the Titans and barely made an impact with the team. Turns out, it simply wasn’t the right situation or environment for the Fan Arch athlete.

Aaron Stinnie was eventually claimed by the Buccaneers off waivers a year later and once again had to prove his worth. The 6-foot-3 guard stepped up big time in the 2020 Wild Card round, after Buccs’ starting right guard Alex Capp fractured his ankle against the Saints.

Aaron Stinnie has been preparing himself for an opportunity such as this one and wasn’t going to let his squad down. He started the final three games of the playoffs and was an important figure in Tampa Bay’s Super Bowl LV victory over the Chiefs.

“That whole time, my whole career, I prepared as a starter,” Aaron Stinnie described the moment. “When that opportunity came up, I knew I couldn’t make it anything more than what it was. If I did, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to do my best out there. So I just went out there calm. Level-headed. Did my thing.”
