Zab Judah, born Zabdiel “Zab” Judah on October 27, 1977, in Brooklyn, New York, started boxing at the young age of six.
Career
After setting an amateur record of 110–5, Zab Judah turned professional in 1996. In 2000, he won the IBF junior welterweight title by knocking out Jan Piet Bergman in the fourth round. He defended his IBF title five times before losing to Kostya Tszyu by second-round TKO in 2001.
Judah went on to win the WBO Junior Welterweight title in 2003 with a victory over DeMarcus Corley. He defended the title once before moving up to Welterweight. In 2004, he lost to Cory Spinks by unanimous decision but avenged the defeat in a rematch 10 months later with a ninth-round knockout.
In 2006, Judah was defeated by Carlos Baldomir after a display of unsportsmanlike conduct in the prefight introductions. His career continued, and he won the IBF welterweight title again in 2011. However, in 2019, a brain bleed during a stoppage loss to Cletus Seldin ended his boxing career.
