When she was younger, Zuniga showed an interest in acting and became part of the American Conservatory Theater’s Young Conservatory program. She then moved to Vermont and attended Woodstock Union High School. After matriculating, she went to the University of California, Los Angeles, studying theatre arts.
Daphne made her film debut in 1982’s “The Dorm That Dripped Blood” in a supporting role. She then had her first lead role in “The Initiation” in, which she had to play twins. In 1985, she was cast in “Vision Quest”, before getting another lead role in “The Sure Thing” opposite John Cusack; the film received good reviews and so opened more opportunities for her, including in the television drama “Stone Pillow” which starred Lucille Ball, and in the comedy “Modern Girls”. Two years later, she was cast in the Mel Brooks Comedy “Spaceballs”, which earned a cult following despite poor reviews from critics. In 1998, she was offered another lead role in “The Fly II” which became a blockbuster, and continued with roles in “Staying Together” and “Gross Anatomy”. Her numerous film opportunities slowly helped in raising her net worth.

She also appeared in the TV soap opera “Melrose Place” as Jo Reynolds, continuing to appear as a recurring character for the next four years. She also tried her hand at voice acting in the animated series “Stories for My Childhood”. In 2005, she was cast in “Beautiful People” and was also given recurring roles in several other shows including “American Dreams” and “One Tree Hill” which she was part of from 2008 to 2012. Her consistent work would steadily help build her net worth.

Daphne has also made a series of television movies, including “Mail Order Bride”. Additionally, in 2007 Daphne forayed into producing and directing with the documentary “The Future We Will Create: Inside the World of TED”, and would then reprise her role in the television spin-off of “Spaceballs” entitled “Spaceballs: The Animated Series”, before reprising her role in the short-lived “Melrose Place” revival. One of her latest projects is in a guest role in the series “Hindsight”, and a role in the television movie “When Duty Calls”.

For her personal life, there is no public information on any relationships. It is known that Daphne is a Buddhist, and stopped consuming fish and meat after suffering from mercury poisoning. Her younger sister is actress Jennifer Zuniga. During the course of her career, she has supported numerous environmental campaigns, including becoming a founding member of Earth Communications Office (ECO). She has been known to work with various organizations such as Environment California and the Natural Resources Defense Council.

#Quote
1I had a kind of anger inside of me that made me want to prove myself all the time. I constantly got into fights and usually ended up in the principal's office. My mother had her hands full with my sister and me. And yet those years taught me to be independent. I once thought that to be "normal" -- to have a mother, father, 2.7 kids and a dog -- was to be happy. I learned pretty quickly that wasn't my "thing" at all. (on her troubled childhood)
2I was a real pain in the ass actually, kind of obnoxious. Moving around a lot and being the "new kid" on the block affected me. My life wasn't too normal in terms of Friday night dates and all that. (on her younger days)
3"I've said that if we were going to do a reunion, they have to pay me the money they should have paid me when I did the original" (on the prospect of participating in a "Melrose Place" reunion)
4I know that place of being an actor and wishing and wanting for things to happen for you, but the truth is that it happens inside.
5The hardest part about doing Spaceballs (1987) was not laughing when they said "action". (2004, VH1's "When Star Wars Ruled the World")
