The relationship between One Direction star, Zayn Malik and his mother-in-law, Yolanda Hadid soured when the former supermodel shared a photograph of the baby girl he shares with her daughter, Gigi Hadid.

That was earlier this year, and as of this week, Yolanda claims Zayn “struck” her while Gigi was at Paris Fashion Week in September, a claim he denies.

As first reported by TMZ, the mother-of-three says after she entered the Pennsylvanian home Zayn and Gigi share with their with their 13-month-old daughter, Khai the singer “grabbed” Yolanda and “shoved” her into a dresser, and called her a “f*****g Dutch s**t”.

Yolanda Hadid claims she suffered ‘mental anguish’ and ‘physical pain’ at the hands of Zayn Malik

She says she suffered “mental anguish and physical pain.”

Yolanda then claims he called Gigi, and said: “Strap on some f***ing balls and defend your partner against your f***ing mother in my house.”

Yolanda’s security guard was also present for the alleged exchange, with Zayn claimed to have told him, “Get the f*** out of my f***ing house copper.”

Zayn says the altercation was verbal only, and denies any physical violence, he also says Yolanda “leaked” the incident, instead of reporting it to the police.

In a social media statement, he said: “As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in.

“A place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart.

“In an effort to protect that space for her, I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago. ‘This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is a divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press.

“I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves.”

According to insiders, tensions between Yolanda and Zayn have been brewing all year, after ther Hadid matriarch shared a photograph of Khai’s face to Instagram in January, against the couple’s strict wishes.

‘Yolanda doesn’t see the issue’ with posting a photo of her granddaughter against Gigi and Zayn’s wishes

“Yolanda deleted it immediately but things were tense,” The Sun reports.

“Yolanda doesn’t see what the issue is, but Zayn – and Gigi – are very against their child being photographed and it’s been a huge cause of tension between them.

“Zayn went crazy – he’s so protective of his daughter’s privacy, he was so mad.”

The publications adds that their differences go even deeper than their conflicting opinions on baby Khai’s exposure.

“They’ve never seen eye to eye. Zayn lives an almost hermit like existence, he likes quiet, solitude, a slow pace, working on music – the farm/rural life suits him and they’ve been living at the ranch for a while.

“Gigi loves it too – she cooks for him every single day and even took up knitting, she also does crafts around the home and painted rooms herself.

“But she also wants to go back to work – which means parties, events, red carpets, ad campaigns, Instagram – all the things that Zayn wants to avoid.

“Yolanda has always been very supportive of and involved in Gigi’s career and is always saying Zayn should do more to support her – walk red carpets with her, post about her on IG, at one point she even suggested a reality show and he was horrified.”

Supermodel Gigi Hadid has penned an open letter to the press, paparazzi and her fan accounts- asking them to not share photos of her daughter’s face online.

The 26-year-old welcomed her first child, Khai, with singer Zayn Malik last year and has never shown her daughter’s face on her social media accounts.

Ms Hadid said she hoped her letter would “continue the conversation to protect minors in the media, even if they come from a public family”.

“As our baby grows up we have to realize that we can’t protect her from everything the way we wanted to and could when she was smaller,” she wrote.

“To the Paparazzi, press, and beloved fan accounts, you know we have never intentionally shared our daughters face on social media.

“Our wish is that she can choose how to share herself with the world when she comes of age, and that she can live as normal of a childhood as possible, without worrying about a public image that she has not chosen.”
