FORMER Rugby Pro Ugo Monye is set to appear on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, and his wife Lucy is likely to be there to cheer him on.
The two have been married for five years, tying the knot a year after the former Harlequins player retired in 2015.
Who is Lucy Monye?
Little is known about Lucy Monye, who keeps a relatively low profile.
Her Instagram is private, and has less than 400 followers – although she does sometimes appear on her husband’s feed.
It’s also not known what Lucy does for work.
What we do know is that Lucy met her future husband in October 2014, with Ugo Monye celebrating their one year anniversary on Instagram, posting a pic of them together and writing “a year ago today I met this little beauty @lucyvelster! We’ve spent it with the people we love – now we’re planning a wedding! I’m a lucky boy”.

The couple tied the knot less than two years after first meeting, on April 16, 2016.
Ugo commemorated the occasion by sharing a snap of the two in the back of a car after the ceremony, excitedly captioning the pic “just got married!!!!!”
In 2021, the pair celebrated their five year anniversary.
Do Ugo Monye and Lucy Monye have children?
The Monyes share two kids.
The couple’s eldest daughter, Phoenix Lilly, was born March 26, 2017 – making her four and a half today (August 2021).
They then had another girl, who they named Ruby, on February 7, 2020.
Ugo Monye regularly posts his daughters online, sharing updates on their lives and proudly describing himself as a “girl dad”.
Ugo is a strong advocate for gender equality in the sport of rugby, and says being a parent has influenced this.
He says looking after his daughters helped him realise how tough it must be for female players who start families whilst still playing professionally.
“I look at like my male peers who play the game, they don’t have to consider the impact to their career when they start a family,” the former pro told Rugby Pass.
“It’s very different in the women’s game.”
