Mare of Easttown Episode 7 Trailer Preview

Mare of Easttown Episode 7 — aka the Mare of Easttown series finale — is only one week away and we’re all dying to know what happens next. Mare of Easttown Episode 6 “Sore Must Be the Storm” put Mare Sheehan (Kate Winslet) back on the trail of Erin McMenamin (Cailee Spaeny)’s murder and left us on a huge cliffhanger. While Mare believes that Erin’s cousin Billy Ross (Robbie Tann) did the crime, we have our doubts. After all, it seemed like John Ross (Joe Tippett) coerced his brother into confessing and Jess (Ruby Cruz) shows Chief Carter (John Douglas Thompson) something important in Erin’s journals that shocks the grizzled police vet. So with only one episode of Mare of Easttown left, what’s going to happen? The official Mare of Easttown Episode 7 trailer previews some major heartbreaking revelations are to come…
The Mare of Easttown Episode 7 teaser opens with a shot of Mare arriving at the same river where Billy and John Ross are fishing. There’s a cut to Mare back in her car, on the walkie asking for backup: “7551 Delcom. Send all available cars to the area.”
Next a suited up Mare — hey! she’s out of sweats! — gets out of her car looking grim. Lori (Julianne Nicolson) closes the door on Mare and we next see her crumpling into herself while John tells her something at their dining room table. The next shot shows Mare looking out of a window, spying beau Richard Ryan (Guy Pearce) packing luggage into a car.
We go back to the river scene. Billy casts his rod into the water as Mare approaches from the woods. We hear Siobhan (Angourie Rice) talk in voiceover: “Maybe you could be my mom for a second, and give me some advice.” After quickly cutting to Siobhan, we go back to Mare wading into the water, slipping, and falling.
Next there’s a shot, seemingly of Mare’s father’s old gun, in a wooden case. Back at the police station, Chief Carter sits on a desk and looks at Jess looking nervous in a glass walled office. Mare’s angry voiceover says: “Just had a suspect flee from me. She obstructed a murder investigation.” Note that she might be talking about different people! Billy could be the suspect who fled and Jess is the obstructor of justice. Or maybe Jess flees? I don’t know! The power of editing!
There’s a quick cut to police cars in pursuit with sirens wailing. Then Deacon Mark (James McArdle) is back in the pulpit in church. Mare, little Drew, and her mom (Jean Smart) are sitting in a pew with Frank Sheehan (David Denham) and his fiancée (but no Siobhan). Then there’s a close up of Mare’s mother looking upset.
As the trailer teases only “ONE EPISODE LEFT,” we also see Mare sitting outside with Carrie (Sosie Bacon), who looks upset. Then Mare embraces Siobhan outside during the day. The last shot is Mare walking down a street. Police cars are behind her and it’s obviously the scene of a crime (or denouement for the show). Mare’s therapist (Eisa Davis) can be heard in voiceover: “Do you think you’re ready now to finally face what you’re avoiding?”
And that’s it! That’s all we get until the Mare of Easttown series finale next week.
Mare of Easttown Episode 7 will premiere on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday, May 31 at 10 PM ET. Please note the Mare of Easttown series finale clocks in at 66 minutes and 44 seconds long, so plan your DVR-ing accordingly (although, c’mon, you’re watching it live, right?).
