Karla Homolka, the wife of a serial killer, Paul Bernardo, demanded a plea bargain in the rape-murders of two Ontario adolescent girls, Leslie Mahaffy and Kristen French.

Due to her plea bargain, she was never accused of rape and murder and was imprisoned for only 12 years.

According to Karla’s statement, Bernardo abused her and made her an unwitting accomplice in the murders.

Karla Homolka’s plea deal became known as “a deal with a devil” and remains one of the most controversial plea deals in Canadian history.

As a result, she reached an agreement with prosecutors for a reduced prison time of twelve years in exchange for pleading guilty to manslaughter.

In addition, Homolka received a score of 5/40 on the Psychopathy Checklist, while Bernardo received a score of 35/40, proving her innocence.

However, the video records of the crimes surfaced, which demonstrated that Homolka was more actively involved in the crime. More than that, she has claimed, including in the rape and death of her sister, Tammy Homolka.

Canadian press later subtitled her agreement with prosecutors as  “Deal with the Devil.”

The documentary chronicles the heinous crimes and controversial trials of Karla Homolka and Paul Bernardo, recognized as the infamous “Ken and Barbie Killers.”

On Sunday, December 12, 2021, a four-part series documenting the two’s trial premiered on Discovery+. Its 3rd and 4th episode has already aired on TV-14 on December 13, 2021.

The first episode is focused on murders, the second on video evidence of their crimes, and the next two on their trial and Homolka’s plea deal.

The couples Homolka and Bernardo are accused of drugging, raping, and killing young women and filming the traumatic events on a video camera.

According to the records, the couple sexually abused and murdered three minors in Toronto and Ontario in the 1990s.

She was discovered dead by the family members at their own home during the celebration of the holiday party. It was later proved that Karla allegedly laced her sister’s eggnog with Halcion and brought her to Bernardo.

He reportedly raped the young girl, who later choked on her vomit from the sedative drugs and died.

Another sibling is Logan Valentini, who changed her name three years after her criminal sister and her husband were arrested. She first appeared in public in 2014 as a witness in the trial of sick killer Luka Magnotta.
