Celebrities are in a way, like people with special powers. Fame brings them millions of fans screaming their names and trying to be like them, behave like them, and look exactly like them. It is only natural for us to look up to our favorite celebs.
But do they like being role models? Our guess is that they never signed up for it when they decided to make it in Hollywood. They sing or act because they like it, and they don't really want to be responsible for shaping young minds. Can you blame them? That is some serious pressure that can hardly be managed. Besides, if someone is a role model, should they twerk in public or have a tape revealed or argue with other celebs in public? I don’t think so. But celebs will be celebs. They make mistakes just like the rest of us, they act silly sometimes, and they suffer too. What we should do is not judge them but stop perceiving them as role models. They are only humans, after all.
Perhaps we ought to enjoy their awesome music, their excellent performances, and stop caring so much about what they do in private. Celebs are not perfect and neither are we. Below is a list of such celebs who are often considered role models but their actions are not far from it.
Miley Cyrus
What happened to the sweet talented girl that inspired so many little ones? Miley Cyrus went from being an adored child star to a slightly eccentric young woman behaving like a rock star from the 70s. By that we mean doing more substances than anyone can count, and acting inappropriately very often.
Hannah Montana may have been a good role model for little girls but the adult Miley Cyrus probably isn't someone you'd want your kid to look up to. Not only did she start doing all these crazy things, but Miley also enjoys being barely dressed which doesn't set a very nice example for her teen fans. Even though Miley said she was not doing anything too bad relatively recently, her image of the past will always be relevant.
Kanye West
Do we really need to elaborate on this? Kanye West is not exactly the best role model for anyone, let alone your kids, although he sure thinks he is. He is known to be arrogant at times, as his tweets show us, and by doing this, he won't win the sympathies of any parent.
Why is Kanye not a good role model for young girls and boys? He has a reputation of someone who likes to belittle others (remember his feud with Taylor Swift). Maybe he just likes to be in the spotlight and if that's the case, he's not the only one. But he certainly likes crossing the line as well. We don't think he should be considered a role model at all and I'm sure the parents out there will agree.
Rihanna
While we can't argue that Rihanna looks like a goddess in literally every photo that she takes, she does not exactly set a very good example for her young fans. The songs are outrageous; she swears, and for some reason in most of her videos she's always ending someone's life.
The list of things she does that are not appropriate for the young audience is rather long. She also changes her look faster than anyone and she really likes to shock us with her style. She is not responsible for shaping every young life of course, but she should definitely not be considered a role model. It all suggests that this talented singer from Barbados doesn't care at all what we may think of her and she's certainly not someone you would want your daughter to look up to.
Kim Kardashian West
It is true that so many people have watched her reality show, but do they all admire her? Kim Kardashian is far from being a positive role model and the list of reasons is pretty long.
First of all, she's famous for no reason, she literally has no talents. She was Paris Hilton's assistant and that was her one job. Well, except for taking revealing photos and changing her hair color back and forth. And the tape released from her mother is the only reason why she got so popular. But what about the influence she surely has on thousands and millions of girls worldwide? Do we really want all the little girls to grow up caring only about their looks? What kind of a message does that send to girls everywhere? Maybe she is a good mother but Kim is not a good role model, that's for sure.
Lady Gaga
Can a person dressed in meat really make a good role model ever? Hardly. I think we can all agree that Lady Gaga's eccentric attention-seeking fashion style is not something young minds should look up to. While we are not saying she is necessarily a bad person (she may be a real delight in private), the way she presents herself in public is not entirely positive.
The dress made of meat is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to her eccentric style. Besides what kind of a message does "do what you want with my body" send? The songs are quite catchy but what she promotes is not very good. At least in her songs anyway, if you pay attention to any of her interviews, she's actually quite normal, but unfortunately her songs do not really reflect that.
Kylie Jenner
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, right? Kim Kardashian's younger sister had an excellent role model when it comes to enhancing your body parts and becoming famous for it. Kylie looked so normal before she plumped her lips so much, it's like she completely changed her appearance.
A teenager who skipped right into adulthood, it seemed she couldn't wait to dress up like her older sisters and by that, we mean provocatively. Kylie is sending the wrong message to girls telling them that they shouldn't be happy with the way they look and that's why she shouldn't be considered a role model.
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift is not someone who would first pop into your head when thinking about bad role models. But she is not that innocent after all. Not that we're saying Taylor is a bad person, but this former country music star has a pretty hectic love life.
The celebrity is almost never single, and she turns all her breakups into rather vindictive songs. What do teens think of it? Well, I'm sure they are not aware of how immature this actually is. They are dealing with the same heartbreaks perhaps, so maybe they find her songs helpful. But is that a positive influence on young girls? If she cannot be single ever, is she sending out the message that girls are not worthy enough if they don't have a man in their lives?
Kristen Stewart
Kristen Stewart is actually far from being the shy young girl from Twilight. In real life, she is much more open and daring. Many girls look up to her but she is not trying to behave in a certain way because of that. While staying true to oneself is a quality, it may not be so when thousands of girls whose minds need to be shaped are looking up to you and you don't seem to care at all about that. Just like Miley Cyrus, Kristen Stewart was caught smoking too, and she isn't even trying to deny her love for it (she wore a bikini with hash plant leaves embroidered on it).
Not helping the matter is that she was completely unfaithful to Robert Pattinson, and really, do what you want on your own time, but if you're in a relationship, stay true to the person who loves you.
Lindsay Lohan
There hardly needs to be any explaining about why Lindsay Lohan is a bad role model. The actress from Mean Girls has been involved in scandals so often that her entire life became a huge scandal. From every single substance problem possible, to losing weight and looking awful, Lindsay has done it all.
She maybe was a great role model in the beginning of her career but her poor choices have made her into what she is today. Her singing career has not helped her much and she has been arrested many times either for drinking and driving, her multiple issues with substances, or even assault. This girl is a troublemaker and she can be anything but a good role model.
Chris Brown
This guy abused his girlfriend and made a terrible apology, which wasn't really one, and said that he was just misunderstood. Need we say more? By the way, his girlfriend was Rihanna who is an even bigger star than he is. We will not forget Rihanna's bruised face after her boyfriend, Chris Brown, had his way. While we hope she will choose better guys in the future, we also think this Chris should not be considered a role model. Surely, his career went on almost untouched by this scandal, as if everyone forgot what he did. Hopefully, young men won't look up to him and become anything like him.
Quite frankly, the fact that he has managed to hold down a career says more about us than it says about him. Just how many people are still throwing their money at this guy?

It is highly unlikely that a singer with a song named Stupid H*e would be a good role model. Nicki Minaj is known for many things, one of which is her prominent body part (or parts which may or may not be real). She promotes a huge behind which she gladly flaunts all the time by wearing revealing clothes and posing with her behind in the spotlight. She totally sends the wrong message to young female fans looking up to her with her lyrics and her style.
Now, it can be argued that women should be allowed to wear what they want, and while that is totally true, it has to be remembered who exactly her audience is. There are a lot of young girls who look up to her, and as we have all seen in the past couple of years, these young girls are already growing up way too fast. Maybe this doesn't help.
Lil Wayne
In case you were wondering why Lil Wayne should not be considered a role model, here's a couple of reasons. All his songs are about drinking or smoking or about shallow relationships with many women. He boasts with how much money he has while not showing us a single talent really. His songs are never about anything that matters.
He can hardly be a role model for anyone and it is unfortunate to think that many young boys look up to this rapper. Besides, you wouldn't want your kid to come home with ugly face tattoos, right? Granted, not every celebrity should be held responsible for how our children turn out to be, but if you are looking for a good role model, you should keep searching.

Her slightly infamous song "Friday" shocked parents with the message that kids should skip school. It has been about 7 years since the song first came out, but Black is still considered to be a bad role model. She is haunted by the reputation she got thanks to this song. She managed to overcome the insults she received since then and even though her musical career hasn't stopped, she may never be that positive role model.
She's the perfect example of how one poor decision can alter your life completely. Her YouTube channel has over a million subscribers so it's obvious that many girls are looking up to her. The only good thing that came out of this was that she became a meme, and really, if the internet is good for anything it is memes.

For many people, Kesha represents a positive role model while many argue that she has a negative influence on girls everywhere. Why exactly? Well, for starters, many of her songs are about partying and doing whatever you want, including sleeping with whoever you want. She is often called trashy and we are not saying that she is, but considering how many teens listen to her music nowadays, singing about partying is not exactly something every parent would approve of. This pop star celebrates youth, but makes it seem like there are no consequences to your actions.
In all fairness, she has cleaned up in the past year or so, and has definitely won over the hearts of many with all that she has recently been through. So, we give her credit for that--her life lately, has not been easy.
Taylor Momsen
The actress and punk rock singer is often considered a role model even though she claimed she is not interested in being a role model for anyone. That probably isn't what her fans wanted to hear, at least most of them, but she couldn't care less what people think of her. She has an attitude and she doesn't think that's bad. Considering she was a child star (appeared in How the Grinch Stole Christmas) Taylor Momsen was well on her way of becoming a huge Hollywood star. But even though this role portrayed her as a good girl and she kept on portraying good characters for a while, she somehow turned into a dark girl with a troubled attitude.
This is clear in her role on Gossip Girl, where she starts out as someone good natured and soft, all innocent and doe-eyed, but undergoes so many transformations that even her father doesn't know what to do with her. Art imitates life.
Charlie Sheen
Charlie Sheen is all but a good role model as there are no secrets about his life full of vices. His addictions are known to everyone, and it was the very reason the actor got fired from Two and a Half Man, the show that made him extremely popular. This star simply doesn't care about being a good role model although many boys seem to think his life is fabulous. The notorious actor is known for drinking too much and getting himself to the hospital from time to time. Besides that, he spends huge amounts of money on night women, if you know what we mean.
He is one of those people that were thrust into the spotlight and simply did not know how to handle it. There is nothing good about these things that he did, and the fact that he managed to get away with it for so long is astonishing to many people.

Tiger Woods was the perfect example of everything that was good. The famous golf player has let his family down and had multiple relationships with women behind his wife's back. All his fame and the status as a role model went to drain as soon as this happened. He was perhaps the greatest golfer ever but the scandal damaged his career irreparably. Our verdict is that Tiger Woods should definitely not be considered a role model despite his success in sports. It appears the public cannot forgive him as well for disappointing them.
Though people do not always pay attention to golf as they might with other sports, he was easily one of the most famous people in the world. But, he screwed it all up for himself, and quite simply, there is no coming back from it.

The story of Daniele Bregoli is the story of a rude girl becoming famous for being rude. The "Cash me Outside" girl became an internet sensation and has managed to turn that into a profitable music career. How is this even possible? The rapper is hardly an example of nice behavior but that doesn't stop countless fans from listening to her music and looking up to her.
What she shows is how behaving badly can be a road to success and unfortunately, many young people think this is the right way to go. She couldn't care less about being a role model, and the crazier she acts, the more popularity does she gain. She is in desperate need of a serious reality check, and should also go back to school to learn basic manners.

Jake Paul, alongside his brother, Logan, has millions of followers and is an internet sensation. The YouTube celebrity does not represent a good example for so many kids who watch his videos. He does crazy stuff and he is famous for it. The reckless behavior Jake Paul promotes is the same as those of his brother, and it seems like they have no real goals in life. Children watch these videos and idolize the man who seems not to have any real qualities or talents. Parents have shown their concerns about the negative influence of this YouTuber.
He is busy setting things on fire and making twelve year olds around him not think about their futures. He has no regard for anyone around him, and makes it seem as though the way he acts is not only cool, but completely normal.

Logan Paul, the brother of Jake Paul, is no less of a villain that is widely popular on the Internet. This viral video star posted a video showing a man's body during his trip to Japan. In this outrageous video, Logan and a group of friends discuss the body and even laugh at it. Such juvenile behavior has provoked rage in so many viewers but that doesn't seem to affect this celebrity. The video was then removed and he offered something that he thinks is an apology. Logan Paul, just like his brother, should definitely not be considered a role model.
