This week, plenty of 2020 NFL first-round draft picks signed their rookie contracts. You can now add Chase Young to that list.
On Thursday, Washington signed the future superstar pass rusher to a four-year rookie contract worth $34.56 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The deal includes a $22.697 million signing bonus.
Young, widely regarded as one of the greatest defensive prospects ever, was taken second overall in this year's draft. He would have certainly been the first overall pick in many other previous drafts, but the Cincinnati Bengals needed a new quarterback, and they decided to take LSU quarterback Joe Burrow with the top selection.
Per Spotrac.com, Young's $34.56 million deal is the richest 2020 rookie contract signed so far. Detroit Lions cornerback Jeffrey Okudah (the No.3 selection) is a close second with a $33.528 million deal.
With Young now signed, only three of the top 18 2020 draft selections haven't signed their rookie deals: Burrow, New York Giants offensive tackle Andrew Thomas and Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert. Nine of the 32 first-round draft picks remain unsigned.

Young recorded 16.5 sacks in his final season at Ohio State. He had 30.5 total sacks over his three seasons with the Buckeyes. Young won several awards in the 2019 campaign, including the Chuck Bednarik and Ted Hendricks Awards while also earning unanimous All-American honors.
The 21-year-old Young joins a Washington front seven that includes veteran Pro Bowl linebacker Ryan Kerrigan and other young talents Matthew Ioannidis, Montez Sweat, Da'Ron Payne and Jonathan Allen. There is no shortage of future star power on defense here for head coach Ron Rivera.
Washington has missed the playoffs in four straight seasons now, but with Young leading the way on defense, this team could turn things around real soon. Young should be able to make an immediate impact right away as Washington prepares for its Week 1 opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.
