Pre-match buzz

Djokovic in his opener eased past Damir Dzumhur 6-1 6-4 6-1. At the other end, Edmund overcame a rough start to take the game away from Alexander Bublik. Sitting at No. 44, Edmund soon sprang back with a 2-6 7-5 7-5 6-0 victory. Incidentally, he's got the second best win percentage (56%) of his at the US Open.

Ahead of the game, Edmund told ATP that the pressure was actually on Djokovic to win. "All the pressure is on him in terms of he’s expected to win and I’m not. That phrase, ‘go and have a free hit’ is okay, but you can’t just go out there and swing. Just swinging doesn’t mean you’re going to have any better success or win more points, because you can’t just go and swing against Djokovic. You have to be very disciplined when you swing. You can’t just hit through him as well. The way he plays doesn’t allow you to do that."

Who will win?

Djokovic in his red-hot form is expected to win this encounter, but do expect some fight from Edmund who seems to be wary of the threat the Serb poses. We'll be backing Djokovic to come through with this one.
