Mandy Moore as Rebecca Pearson on This Is Us. Those of us who grew up listening to Mandy Moore’s music on Radio Disney may find her recent rebranding as a respected dramatic actress something of an outright marvel. America came to know Moore when she was still just a sweet, skinny 15-year-old girl who sang that piffle of an earworm, “Candy,” in 1999. What followed was a steady, if somewhat undistinguished, career in pop music, followed by a handful of attempts to make it as an actress on the big screen, most notably 2002’s A Walk to Remember.

Shia LaBeouf and rattail. In Andrea Arnold’s masterful American Honey, two newcomers make a big impression. The first is 21-year-old Sasha Lane, famously discovered by Arnold on a beach on Miami during spring break. The second is the long string of braided hair that dangles from the nape of Shia LaBeouf’s neck. Yes, that’s right — in what might be the best work of his career, Shia LaBeouf sports a glorious rattail. Those facts are not unconnected.

To many, Eugene Levy is Jim’s Dad, and Jim’s Dad only. Not a cast member of the brilliant SCTV or as a mainstay in Christopher Guest’s filmography, but as the father of the guy who once fucked a pie. It makes sense, though. While a majority of the original cast from the first three American Pie films left the franchise after 2003’s American Wedding, Levy continued to appear in each subsequent straight-to-DVD installment, from 2005’s Band Camp to 2009’s The Book of Love, with 2006’s The Naked Mile and 2007’s Beta House sandwiched in-between.

You can tell Game of Thrones is fantasy because there are dragons and zombies and every one is hot. Unless a character literally has facial scars for plot reasons, everyone is so freaking bangable. I get it — it’s TV (despite HBO’s claims). But this isn’t a CW show. Prestige TV tends to have some normal-looking people thrown in. Have you seen the cast of Boardwalk Empire?!
And now, it’s that point in every GOT article where we bring up the books.

Last night’s premiere of The Millers brought Will Arnett and Margo Martindale (among others) back to prime time. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the show is not good, at all. And the worse news: The episode ends with a big Dirty Dancing homage dance sequence.
No. This is unacceptable.
No more Dirty Dancing dances! Mercifully, The Millers did not do “the lift,” but it’s still just the latest in a very long line of dozens and dozens of other Dirty Dancing allusions.
