Jerry Minor is one of those naturally likable everyman types comedy aficionados should recognize from supporting parts in any number of iconic movies and TV shows over the past quarter century — Mr. Show, Eastbound & Down, and Anchorman, to name a few. (Last month, he added a guest appearance on Abbott Elementary to his deep bench of credits.) But one could just as likely overlook Minor on first viewing despite a résumé as long and varied as the range of his talent.

While he’s apparently still in negotiations, Deadline reports that we’ll probably be seeing Jim Carrey in Burt Wonderstone, starring alongside Steve Carell as a member of the Las Vegas magician community. As it should be. While it’s not entirely clear if Carrey will star as Carell’s erstwhile partner or his new “hip street magician rival,” Carrey’s squirmy, manic energy seems pretty much made for an over-the-top magician role. A Criss Angel who’s in on the joke, if you will.

Imagine if we saw Don Draper in the ’80s stumble across Hawkins, Indiana, on one of his drunken cross-country road trips and encounter Steve Harrington? Well, it’s not gonna happen, but we’ll get Fargo season five instead, which stars Mad Men’s Jon Hamm as Roy Tillman and Stranger Things’ Joe Keery as Gator, a father-son crime-fighting duo.

John Currin, Sunflower, 2021. John Currin is the Caligula of painting. Someone whose work is so specifically fucked-up, perverse, shocking, visually insolent, menacing, and mesmerizing that as it puts us off, it also pulls us in. Our tastes often betray us as we find ourselves drawn to questionable things we know are problematic. That is where I am with Currin.
Everyone writes about his great skill. But that is ridiculous.

When Alex Jones isn’t selling his Bill Clinton rape whistle (“Let Bill know that you’re in the crowd and that you know the truth”) or a “9/11 Was an Inside Job” bumper sticker, he’s pushing pills. A bulk of his time on Infowars is spent plugging his own products under his Infowars Life Brand. These products are called nutraceuticals — “Which I believe are the results of the word nutrition fucking the word pharmaceutical from behind,” Oliver suggests — and seem to have no health benefits whatsoever.
