What One Writer Learned at Oprahs Lifeclass

Professor Oprah On Monday afternoon, I attended Oprah’s Lifeclass at Radio City Music Hall. What is Lifeclass? It’s a trademarked, watered-down version of The Oprah Winfrey Show, in which she leads the audience toward spiritual enlightenment with the help of what she calls “thought leaders” like Tony Robbins, Bishop T.D. Jakes, and Iyanla Vanzant, who showed up on the last season of Oprah to spend two episodes begging for forgiveness after signing a failed talk-show deal with Barbara Walters twelve years ago (she will soon have her own show on OWN). What to Make for Your Outlander Finale Dinner Party

It’s a sad day, Sassenachs. Season two of our favorite feminist sci-fi fantasy, Outlander, is coming to a close. But don’t start drowning your sorrows in whiskey just yet. Let’s celebrate a great season by throwing a dinner party worthy of the court of Versailles. Or at least, a war encampment in the moors of Scotland. With the Outlander Kitchen cookbook out this month, we here at Vulture decided to test some recipes inspired by Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling series as a way to bid farewell to season two. What We Know About Lordes New Single, Green Light

She’s coming. This Thursday (or Friday, if you’re a Kiwi), Lorde will make her much-awaited return to pop disruption after a three-plus year break between albums. She’s expected to release her sophomore album’s first single on March 2 and has been baiting fans, both here in the States and in her home of New Zealand, with small treats in the lead-up to the big day. As the world perfects their possessed looks in anticipation of the former teen queen’s arrival, here’s what we know so far about her new song. [Read More]

What We Know About the Models Sent to Bill Cosbys Dressing Room

Bill Cosby cemented his nickname and reputation as “America’s Dad” with his role as Cliff Huxtable, the beloved father on NBC’s 1984–1992 hit series The Cosby Show. Today, however, the comedian is known for dozens of allegations of sexual assault against him (all of which he has continuously denied). Cosby served nearly three years in prison for sexual assault before being released in 2021; the conviction was overturned because a prosecutor had promised not to charge him. [Read More]

Whats the Most Chaotic Part of Travis Scotts Utopia Rollout?

When Travis Scott was first teasing a follow-up to his 2018 album, Astroworld, back in 2021, he hinted at two projects: one called Dystopia and a separate one called Utopia. Now, the rapper is gearing up to release his fourth album, Utopia, but Dystopia may actually be a better name, based on the messy rollout thus far. Scott’s promotion has been over the top and full of stunts, even as litigation for the crowd-crush tragedy at his Astroworld festival under two years ago remains ongoing. [Read More]

When It Comes to Tech Thrillers, The Circle Is Pretty Square

Emma Watson in The Circle. Most of The Circle plays ridiculously, thank God: If in ten years we look back on it and think, “Yep, they got it right,” we’ll really be screwed. We’ll probably still think the movie isn’t very good, though. It’s named for a powerful tech company — Facebook with aspects of Apple and maybe Google. But think Facebook because its hook is community and its principal product a social interface app called TruYou. [Read More]

Where Can New Yorks Oldest Alternative Art Space Afford to Move Next?

When Paul Ha decided to move White Columns to a garage-type space on Horatio and West 4th Street in 1998, many people though he was crazy. Hard as it might seem today, that corner of the village, adjacent to the still-vaguely-sordid Meatpacking District, was not desirable in the least. But it was affordable, which is in White Columns’ DNA, since it was founded in 1970 by Jeffrey Lew and Gordon Matta-Clark in Soho (and known as the 112 Workshop, or 112 Greene Street). [Read More]

Which MIA Succession Characters Are Showing Up to Logans Funeral?

Just because a Succession character makes a strong impression doesn’t mean we’ll be seeing a lot of them. This truism has been embodied throughout the series by Logan’s third (and final) wife, Marcia, Succession’s version of Catherine Parr, who knows exactly how to play the game of being married to a rich and powerful man: When scorned, jet somewhere offscreen (shopping in Milan, perhaps?), and return only when suspense is at its highest. White and Nerdy Daniel Radcliffe Will Play Weird Al Yankovic in Biopic

Accio accordion! In what will surely be his strangest role since playing a farting motorized corpse, Daniel Radcliffe has signed on to play “Weird Al” Yankovic in the upcoming biopic Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. The feature film will be produced by Funny or Die, meaning it will be as much a parody of music biopics as Yankovic’s most popular songs are parodies of popular music. Roku announced the casting news today in a press release that says the “biopic holds nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle” (real fans know that in reality, Yankovic is a vegetarian, teetotaling churchgoer).
